![]() Hello, we have already responded to this complaint on 7/6/23. The following appears on the label the print copy her newspaper Here are the details concerning my wife's account. Finally, I want a letter of apology from the *** acknowledging that its authentication system did not work in this case and that, as a result, I have been forced to spend an inordinate amount of time and effort to get what my household has paid for. AND I want a refund of the money I have been charged for that unnecessary subscription. I want to cancel the subscription I should not have needed but was forced to get because the ***'s "authentication" system does not work. I want the *** to make sure I can get access to my wife's account (details below) without undue effort on my part. Given the excessive time I have been forced to spend on this because of the ***'s disgracefully bad customer service, I want to clarify the relief I seek. If I have not attached the correct document, please notify me. I think I finally managed to do it, but I'm not sure. Sending an attachment with an email would have been easy, but attaching the pdf to the BBB's form was not, at least for me. time, trying to upload a copy of my billing statement. I have had a great deal of difficulty, and have spent an inordinate of. Let me explain the parenthetical "I think" above. Well, as evident from the attached, it had no problem finding it for purposes of billing me. The *** claims it is unable to find my account. In response to the request of the New York Times (***) that I "prove" that I am a subscriber, I attach (I think) a copy of my most recent **************** Billing Statement. But when, using that password,I tried to sign in, I was again denied access. ![]() Nothing worked.Though I resented having to do so, I then went through the "forgot password" process and was told I had successfully changed it. ![]() I tried to log into my wife's account using herpassword, and also to my account using every possible variation of a standard password I use for non-financial sites. I got a new password but, to the best of my recollection, after logging in once, I was not asked for a password again for many weeks. Then the Times again began telling me that I had exhausted my "free" articles and inviting me to get what would have been a THIRD subscription. Again, my wife wasn't home and, to get immediate access to the story, I succumbed to the Times' offer to subscribe for one dollar per month. She was away at the time and I ultimately forgot about the issue.Several weeks later, I needed access to a story in the Times for purposes of something I was writing. I complained to the Times and, after some delay, received an email message containing a complicated technical explanation as to why this had happened and detailing equally complicated steps I should ask my wife to take to fix the problem. I successfully used my wife's password for this purpose for several years. Then, every time I attempted to get access - still using my wife's password- a screen came up saying I had run out of free articles and urging me to subscribe. My wife wanted to keep getting the paper and took a subscription in her own name.Notwithstanding my discontent with the Times' content, it is an important newspaper to which I frequently wanted access. I was a longtime subscriber to the print and online Times when, about three years ago, I cancelled my subscription because I felt the Times had abandoned the objective journalism that was once its hallmark. ![]() Although my household now has TWO subscriptions to the New York Times, I am unable to get online access to the newspaper.
